General Studio Programs Info

Q:How do I enter the museum?
A:The main entrance to the SBMA is in the circle drive on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Enter the doors directly under the green art dot on the building.

SBMA's address is 120 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., South Bend, IN. 46601

Q:Where do I park?
A:SBMA visitors may park in the Century Center parking lot free of charge. Parking passes are available for students and faculty to use during classes and open studio. Pick up a parking pass at the rotunda entrance at the beginning of each session. In the event that the Century Center lot is full, on-street parking is available throughout the downtown area and additional parking is available in garages across the street from Century Center.

Q:Why was my class cancelled?
A:The South Bend Museum of Art makes every effort to hold each class offered. A class must be canceled when its minimum student enrollment is not reached.
Cancellations are determined no less than 3 business days before the class starts.
Summer Camp and Workshop cancellations will be determined no less than 5 business days before the start of the camp.
If a class is cancelled, you will be notified and we will try to find another class that will work with your schedule.

Q:Can I transfer to a different class?
A:Students may transfer to a different class prior to the first week of class without instructor approval. The student will be refunded or charged for any difference in price between the two classes, if there is a difference. Any transfers after the start of the class must have written instructor approval sent to the Studio Programs Manager via email. There are no additional fees for transferring. Students should reach out to the SBMA office at 574-235-7516 or email the Studio Programs Manager Katie Neece at neecek@southbendart.org to begin a transfer process.

Q:Do you prorate classes or Open Studio Passes?
A:The SBMA does not prorate classes or Open Studio Passes for any reason.

Q:What are Open Studios?
A:Open Studios are scheduled for times when there are no classes or events scheduled for a particular Studio. Adults registered for classes or an Open Studio Pass may use Open Studio hours at no extra cost. Classes always take first priority in studios and Open Studio hours may be adjusted due to special circumstances.

Q:Can I bring a friend or family member to class or Open Studios with me?
A:No outside visitors should sit in on a class or Open Studio time without prior approval from the Studio Programs Manager and the instructor for the class, if applicable. The exception is if you are visiting to retrieve finished projects or supplies and need assistance.
