Description
Ten teens with diabetes, ages 15-17 will gather at Bearskin Meadow Camp to prepare to embark on a 14,505 foot, 75+ mile journey, to the highest peak in the lower 48 states.

The group will spend the first couple of days at base camp, and then depart for 9 days on the trail with the goal of summiting Mt. Whitney. Participants will need a high level of fitness, stamina, and determination to complete the trip. Applicants must submit a supplemental application, and complete an interview prior to enrollment. Pre-trip virtual meetings, a pre-trip training plan, socializing and support will be provided.

Note: While no specific prerequisite experiences or skills are required for these programs, applicants will go through an interview process to ensure they are committed and invested in the program as well as engage in physical training preparation for up to 4 months before the program.

Due to the necessary advanced preparation time for this specialized program and a pre-acceptance interview for all applicants, the application window for this program closes on January 31st. All applicants who apply during this window will receive an interview regardless of the order in which applications are received. Participants will be selected and notified by March.
