Take the Reins: 6/22-6/27 at Trefoil Ranch (Entering Grades 8-9)
Description
Program Name
Take the Reins: 6/22-6/27 at Trefoil Ranch (Entering Grades 8-9)
Program Description
Take your horse skills to the next level as you visit the stables five times during this session, advancing your Western riding skills and equine care knowledge. Enjoy bringing the horses in for the day from the pasture, as well as grooming and tacking them during Saddle Club. In this session, you will take an extended trail ride off site with a sack lunch. You’ll also get an introduction to rodeo skills such as flag patterns and racing patterns. There will also be opportunities for traditional camp activities during the camper choice blocks throughout the week!
Horseback Riding Programs
Campers in equestrian programs will be grouped according to experience level, and lessons for each group will be geared towards the least-experienced riders. Lessons include riding instruction, stable maintenance, and ground school (learning about the animals and tack and how to care for them).
Horseback riding is a sport that requires physical coordination, balance, and the ability to follow directions. Campers in horseback riding programs will hike to the stables for every horse program block, located three quarters of a mile uphill from the main camp. For everyone’s safety, participants not following directions from equestrian staff will not be permitted to ride. For the soundness and safety of our horses, riders may not exceed 250lbs.
