Description
The Cardboard Construction Art Club is an engaging and creative after-school program designed specifically for upper elementary students. This club provides a unique opportunity for young artists to explore the world of art and design through the versatile medium of cardboard. By joining the club, students can unleash their imaginations, develop their problem-solving skills, and enhance their teamwork abilities in a fun and supportive environment.
Objectives
The primary objectives of the Cardboard Construction Art Club are to:
Encourage Creativity: Inspire students to think outside the box and use cardboard in innovative ways to create unique art pieces.
Develop Skills: Help students improve their cutting, folding, and assembling skills, which are essential for creating sturdy and imaginative constructions.
Promote Teamwork: Foster a sense of community and collaboration among students as they work together on group projects.
Learn Sustainability: Teach students about the importance of recycling and repurposing materials, emphasizing the role of sustainability in art.
Activities
Individual Projects: Students will have the opportunity to work on individual projects, allowing them to express their personal artistic styles. Some potential projects include:
Miniature Furniture: Designing and constructing small pieces of furniture using cardboard, which could be used for dolls or action figures.
Masks and Costumes: Creating wearable art pieces, such as masks or costume accessories, using cardboard and other decorative materials.
Sculptures: Building three-dimensional sculptures that can range from abstract designs to realistic models.
Group Projects
Collaboration is a key component of the club. Students will work together on larger projects, such as:
Cardboard Cities: Constructing a detailed cityscape complete with buildings, roads, and parks, encouraging teamwork and collective creativity.
Themed Exhibits: Designing themed exhibits, like a zoo or amusement park, where each student contributes a different part of the display.
Interactive Installations: Creating interactive installations that can be displayed at school events, allowing students to showcase their work to a wider audience.

Please note that all clubs are non-refundable. Please email Anna at aknipfer@friendsschoolatlanta.org with any club questions or if you would like to request financial assistance for a club.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Aftercare is included in the price of the club before the club begins. You will only be charged for aftercare if you do not promptly pick your child up after the club ends. There is a grace period of five minutes for pick up after a club is over. After that grace period ends, you will be charged for aftercare.
Switching from one club to another is not guaranteed. Because clubs are non-refundable, please make sure your child decides on the club before registering.
Please be sure to note the end times for clubs, clubs vary from one hour, to one and a half hours to two hours and therefore end at different times. All clubs except for Innovation Lab (3:15) begin at 3:30 PM.
Students are collected from aftercare by club instructors and then brought back to aftercare when the club is over. Parents/Caregivers pick their children up from the gym.
