Spring Break Drama Camps for Williamson and Davidson Counties Days: Monday-Friday Times: Camp Day Runs from 9am-3pm Before Care Opens at 7:30am After Care Closes at 5:30pm All NCT Camps Include FREE Before Care and After Care With their Teaching Artist, students will adapt a storybook into a play by adding sound, movement, dialogue, and creative staging. They will help the teacher stage the play then rehearse throughout the week. This camp will culminate in a performance, or “sharing” on Friday at 3 pm in our main auditorium. At this level, the teaching artist is part of the play to ensure a safe, confident performance environment. Junior Theatre Voyagers focuses on teaching very important basic acting skills. Students will learn to use the three primary tools of an actor, the voice, body, and imagination, to create characters on stage. They will learn how to take their own creative impulses and ideas and commit to those ideas through the creation of a play as an ensemble. Additionally, the students will develop collaborative and social skills that allow them to contribute personally while honoring the ideas of their cast-mates. Junior Theatre Voyagers students learn how to: • Use loud, clear voices • Move as a specific character • Follow stage directions and learn theatre vocabulary • Improvise dialogue • Imagine and create soundscapes/stage pictures that develop the world of the play • Understand story structure and plot development • Work as an ensemble • Exercise discipline as they work toward the goal of the show • Have an absolute blast NCT’s focus is always the healthy development of young people. We believe that the skills that students learn in the process of play-building will serve them in their everyday lives as well as provide a foundation if they choose to continue to more advanced work (which we hope they do!). During after care, we will also have a daily option of a G or PG-rated children’s movie playing as an activity choice. *There may be two sections of this class. If participating with a friend, please indicate this in the "friend request" question during registration. If a sibling is also in the camp and you would like them in the same section OR separate sections if possible, please indicate in that field.
