Chemical Reactions
Description
Over the course of this week, campers will be introduced to the idea of what chemical interactions are, and follow up by doing interactive science experiments to observe up close the process of reactions of varying reactants. This emphasizes campers' sense of wonder as they draw conclusions from scientific inquiry through each experiment. They are able to compare and contrast what they notice and participate in the sense making of why something different might be created in different reactions. During the experiments, students have space to be creative and differentiate depending on their own interests, which can emphasize the goal of fun. They will also have opportunities to engage with their peers as they work together to create a respectful and safe environment by encouraging one another to ask questions, share aloud new ideas, and expand the conversation.
