Intro to Modern & Contemporary Dance
Description
In this camp we will be introducing the fun of classic modern dance techniques from Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Katherine Dunham, Lester Horton, and José Limón, and a study of contemporary dance and its famous choreographers. Students will start from the floor or standing work to engage in basic floor warm ups, center work, grounded and whole-bodied movements across the floor utilizing breath phrasing, rhythm, and step syncopation.
This program is taught and designed by Lauren Layman who has 20 years of youth dance teaching experience in Portland, Mexico & Poland, and Annabelle Gump, a graduate of Classical Ballet Academy and a major in dance, math and dance therapy.
