Environmental Stewardship in my Community: Engaging Communities in Conservation Solutions 2024
Description
Students in this course investigate environmental stewardship, research science and conservation opportunities and solutions in their local communities, practice community-based social marketing, develop a conservation project to be used in their classroom or community, and reflect on ecological impacts. This course will also examine the role of empathy, place-based learning, and environmental justice to understand and care for the natural world in our own backyards.



This class is available only for Woodland Park Zoo’s Advanced Inquiry Students.


The Advanced Inquiry Program is a one-of-a-kind master’s program that allows you to pursue your passion in collaborative inquiry and conservation action at the Woodland Park Zoo while earning either an M.A. or M.A.T. degree in biology through Miami University. The Advanced Inquiry Program is designed for students from a range of backgrounds and career stages. Dates: Online web-based learning is August 26 – December 6. In-person experiential days are September 7th, October 19th ,and November 16th.
