The Knight School: Chess Party!

Join The Knight School's Chess Party! We offer weekly chess classes featuring super-fun, high-energy chess lessons and tournament play! We learn color-coded chess tactics and strategies, which correspond to collectible silicone wristbands that show that students have mastered a certain tactic. Students try to collect all 28 colorful TactixBands. We also face off in tournaments, play fun games, watch silly chess videos, and have joke contests—it’s a chess party!


Why join chess team? First of all, for FUN! Second, Chess has been proven to increase standardized test scores, improve critical thinking and capacity for STEM-learning, and strengthen students’ problem-solving and focus skillsets! My favorite thing about teaching chess is instilling academic confidence. I love when my students develop an identity as a “smart kid” who is great at the most mathematically complex game in human history—chess!


Chess will meet Thursdays, 3:30-4:45. The fall session will meet from 10/3-12/5. Those 8 sessions will cost $200 plus a one-time $40 supply fee (to cover a chess set, chess t-shirt, and all the TactixBands your student can earn--if you sign up for subsequent winter or spring sessions, you won't pay this again). Auxiliary Discount (Ex-Day)
$8.5 discount per session due to dual enrollment in Ex-Day. The actual amount will depend on the total number of sessions. Please only select this if you are currently enrolled or plan to enroll in Ex-Day during the Auxiliary Program seasons. This discount will be reviewed at the end of the Auxiliary Program by an Administrator before it is approved and a credit will be applied to your Ultracamp account.
