Science of Color
Description
Campers will explore the science of color, conducting experiments with prisms, gels, liquids, and everyday materials to understand how we see and interpret color. We will also explore the art of color. How do you mix colors? What is the color wheel? What are warm and cool colors? How do artists choose colors for their work? Why did the Impressionists rarely use black paint? Who were the Fauves (“Wild Beasts”) and why were we known for their bright colors? Who were the Pointillists, applying tiny dots of color that mix optically? We will play with paint, learning to mix and apply colors effectively in a composition.
