Butterfly Mania
Description
Campers will learn about the butterflies of Maryland and will use butterfly nets to collect butterflies on campus and learn to find chrysalis on campus. With luck (and chrysalis), campers will observe and learn the scientific process of metamorphosis and see butterflies emerge. Each butterfly will be released after careful observation. Campers will also learn about the risks to butterfly populations and ways that they can help to assure that butterflies remain a part of our environment. Campers will learn ways to identify Maryland butterflies and participate in daily art projects to support their observations and knowledge of butterfly anatomy. All campers will receive their own certificate empowering them as butterfly ambassadors to go out and teach others the importance of butterflies in our world.
