United States History Honors - 2345
Description
This course is designed to teach the motivated student with a strong American history background and well-developed writing skills about the cultural and political heritage of the United States, as well as the origins and development of its political, economic, and social institutions. Students will develop skills in historical analysis and reasoning skills, including argumentation, contextualization, claim-based thinking, and source evaluation. This Honors course will be distinguished by more rigorous reading and writing requirements, as well as an increased depth of historical analysis and reasoning skills.
Prerequisites: 4.0 GPA in Social Studies courses, OR 4.0 GPA in Social Studies and English courses, OR Social Studies Department Chair approval.
Please note: The school will be closed on Thursday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth and Thursday, July 3rd AND Friday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.
