Led by Chelsea Maxey, M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology at the Shelton Speech Center, this class focuses on teaching the principles of Social Thinking® to help students understand the "why" behind social interactions. It highlights the subtle social nuances that can be missed, even by intelligent, language-proficient students. Topics include perspective-taking, the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and actions, following a group plan, whole-body listening, eye contact, and conversation skills. Strategies for managing thoughts, feelings, and actions when things don’t go your way will also be covered.
