Fitness Tracking*
Grades: 9th-12th
This summer exclusive offering teaches the foundations of data management and statistics while introducing students to the basics of physical fitness and training. In this course, students will complete three fitness evaluations at designated dates in order to establish their baseline fitness, track progress, and analyze their performance over the course of the summer. In coordination with instructors, they will develop a manageable and goal-oriented personal exercise routine that is informed by best practices in healthy habits, endurance-training, and strength-building. Additionally, students will partner with one of our statistics teachers to learn the basics of gathering clean, consistent data on their fitness progress and physical health over the duration of the summer. Students will also learn and develop their skills in analyzing, evaluating, and presenting that data.
This one trimester course counts .333 credits toward Parish graduation requirements, and it fulfills one third of the required Athletics credits for graduation. The course is graded PASS/FAIL.
Attendance Expectations & Requirements
The course is structured over the course of the summer.
Students are required to attend meetings with Ms. Kidder at the beginning and end of the summer.

First Time Fitness Trackers MUST also schedule a SECOND meeting

Students must also conduct their own fitness evaluations three times in the first week of each month.
• Fitness Evaluation 1: completed between June 1 and June 8th
• Fitness Evaluation 2: completed between June 30th and July 6th
• Fitness Evaluation 3: completed between July 28th and August 3rd
Students are also required to submit logs of their activities EACH WEEK during the summer. Students must complete EIGHT weeks of activities. These activity logs must be completed according to a rubric and submitted on time to be considered as passing.

Students are required to meet with Ms. Kidder for a final review and to prepare for a final presentation.
