Take a step into the Mammal Hall and learn the secrets that have helped California wildlife survive and thrive in the unique biome that is Santa Barbara. Learn the secrets of Seal Blubber and Sea Otter fur, and why the black bear has reigned supreme in the Santa Ynez Mountains. Learn the tracks of coyote and compare them to those of our k9 companions! We will hone our observational skills and learn the ways of the wild.
Water, Water Everywhere
Ages: 4 and 5
What covers 70 percent of Earth’s surface and is critical to life on Earth? Water! We will explore the differences between fresh and saltwater and find out just where all that salt comes from. Using Mission Creek, we will learn about the critters that Mission Creek supports from here all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
