Leaping into Literacy (Week 4)
Description
Research states it is important to continue literacy skills learned throughout the school year over the summer months to prevent a loss of learning. We will build a good foundation of phonological phonemic awareness skills using "The Heggerty Curriculum." In addition, we will focus on reading a variety of Lucille Colandro's early childhood rhyming stories, such as; "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly." The children will be involved in oral/auditory language activities, literacy center activities, sequencing activities, making an "Old Lady" puppet craft and journal writings based on the stories we read.
