Young Adult Mission Trip
Description
In November 2025, the Youth & Young Adult Department is planning a second service and evangelistic mission trip geared towards Young Adults ages 21 and above. This trip will be to the Island of Ha’apai, one of the smaller main islands of the Kingdom of Tonga.

In February 2018, a category 4 storm hit the South Pacific leaving much damage in its wake. To date, it is the strongest storm recorded to have hit the islands. Much aid was brought in immediately to help rebuild and restore the Kingdom; however, Cyclone Gita’s effect can still be
seen in some parts of the islands.

In October 2018, a small group gathered in Ha’apai to rebuild the Adventist church. Their goal was to later return to rebuild the Pastor’s home, which belongs to the church and is located on the church property. Along with this home they would rebuild the Meeting Hall, both of which were damaged during the storm. Six years later, the team has not been able to complete this part of the mission.

We hope to pick up where this group left off by rebuilding the Pastor’s home and the Meeting Hall. We would also like to pour into the community by having our young medical professionals share tips and life style changes to that will help combat diabetes, addressing one of the leading medical issues faced in Tonga today. Once the hall and seminars are completed, we will invite all in the surrounding community to a feast at the newly built Meeting Hall with dishes promoting a healthier diet made from the foods on the island. Lastly, we would like to end with a weekend of
prayer, celebration, and thanksgiving to the Lord.

All materials used throughout the seminar will be left to the church so that they are able to reach out to other villages with this life changing information. We believe that our efforts will lead to many opportunities for the local church to be God’s hands and heart extended for long after we
leave.
