Counselor-in-Training - Level 1 Captain CIT (Week 3)

Description

Students who age-out of summer camp can now register for our counselor-in-training program. Our CIT camp is a great way to learn the ropes of working at summer camp or other children's programs. CITs will work under the direction of our Assistant Camp Director to assist in camp classes and other duties assigned. CITs will have special training sessions with the MPH Division Heads and School Nurse.

This Level 1 is for CITs in Grace 9 and Grade 10 (1st year). Level 1 CITs will be Captains of their summer camp classes with grades 5-8. With their classes, they will be role models for campers and will assist counselors with activities and enthusiasm for camp while learning leadership skills and working toward Level 2.

Please note that MPH only hires summer counselor “floater” candidates who have graduated from high school unless they have worked for our school-year extended day program. Offering the summer CIT program will allow students an opportunity to train as a floater and possible employment at the age of 16 (dependent on performance and job openings).

ArtVentures This class offers exciting ways to take ordinary materials and make something extraordinary. If you love to create and learn about art, this class is the right one for you. Join the fun for each new and exciting week of learning with new materials, ideas, and techniques.
Athletic Camp (Basketball Camp, Grades 7-9) Register separately. This is for campers registering for both Summer Place and Summer Basketball Camp for grades 7-9. You must register for Summer Athletic Camps separately.
Balloon Twisting (Beginner to Advanced) with Jeff the Magic Man Come have fun with Jeff the Magic Man to make balloon twisting creations.
Camp Announcements and Podcast Team Join the CAP Team to create daily lunch announcements and the new camp podcast. Campers will create the podcast crew interview guests to talk about fun summer camp topics. The podcast will video record fun clips to share with campers at the end of the week.
Camp Instagram MPH summer camp is joining Instagram. Camp Instagram will share the fun that happens at camp!
Camp Swifties Calling all Swifties! Ready for it? All things Taylor Swift.
Chess This class is best for beginner or intermediate level players.
Craft Corner Campers will enjoy creating a variety of projects in this fun crafts class.
Crochet Workshop
Daily Paper: Summer Place Times Campers create the Daily Paper with basic journalism skills including interviewing, editing and layout. The paper is distributed daily during lunch time.
Mystery Inc. Gather around gang - it's time to solve a mystery! Mystery, Inc. will be the lead detectives gathering clues, presenting clues to the camp and solving the mystery during Mystery Week.
Off-Broadway - On-Summer Place! (Double-block class) Campers will work together to create a theatrical performance that they will perform for fellow campers at the end of the week. Students will learn about stage presence, positioning, and performance, all while enjoying creating the show. No previous acting experience is needed!
Off-Broadway - Stagehand and Design (Double-block class) In this class, you'll create the set and make the entire production come alive! Show is at the end of the week.
Outdoor Games Play a variety of fun outdoor games including croquet, lawn darts, paddle and pickle ball, bocce ball, Can Jam, horseshoes and more!
Pokemon Have fun trading cards, and learning and playing the game. Water type, fire type - this class is for every type!
Rugby Learn and play the international game of Rugby in a friendly, non-contact environment. Campers will learn the basic skills and rules of Rugby.
Sports Combination Play basketball, soccer, team handball, and more.
String Art Check out this hands-on activity! Learn how to create a beautiful personalized piece of art by hammering nails into a wooden pallet and threading string through and around each nail to make a colorful outline.
Summer Science From nature activities to fun experiments, get ready to see how cool science can be.
Team Challenge Campers will work together with teammates to complete the daily challenges.
The Masked Performer Create your own costume and create and practice your performance to showcase and reveal!
Treasure Hunt The ultimate treasure hunt. Each day’s adventure will lead to a final Grand Hunt at the end of the week.
Ultimate Kickball Play a different style of kickball each day - Longball, Matball, Six Base, Survivor, and more!
Upcycled Fashion Runway We'll go shopping at the local thrift store and choose items to upcycle, turning them into cool pieces of clothing that you'll want to wear. You'll show them off on the runway at the end of the week.
