Counselor-in-Training - Level 1 Captain CIT (Week 4)

Description

Students who age-out of summer camp can now register for our counselor-in-training program. Our CIT camp is a great way to learn the ropes of working at summer camp or other children's programs. CITs will work under the direction of our Assistant Camp Director to assist in camp classes and other duties assigned. CITs will have special training sessions with the MPH Division Heads and School Nurse.

This Level 1 is for CITs in Grace 9 and Grade 10 (1st year). Level 1 CITs will be Captains of their summer camp classes with grades 5-8. With their classes, they will be role models for campers and will assist counselors with activities and enthusiasm for camp while learning leadership skills and working toward Level 2.

Please note that MPH only hires summer counselor “floater” candidates who have graduated from high school unless they have worked for our school-year extended day program. Offering the summer CIT program will allow students an opportunity to train as a floater and possible employment at the age of 16 (dependent on performance and job openings).

3D Art Use your imagination to create 3-dimensional objects with various materials.
ArtVentures This class offers exciting ways to take ordinary materials and make something extraordinary. If you love to create and learn about art, this class is the right one for you. Join the fun for each new and exciting week of learning with new materials, ideas, and techniques.
Athletic Camp (Soccer Camp, Grades 7-9) Register separately. This is for campers registering for both Summer Place and Summer Soccer Camp for grades 7-9. You must register for Summer Athletic Camps separately.
Big Buddies Campers will spend time doing fun activities with our Kinder Place and Fun Place campers (free play, teach and play games, and learn strategies for working with younger campers).
Build This Get ready to Build This! Each day you'll be presented with a picture or idea of what you need to build, along with a variety of materials to take on the challenge.
Camp Announcements and Podcast Team Join the CAP Team to create daily lunch announcements and the new camp podcast. Campers will create the podcast crew interview guests to talk about fun summer camp topics. The podcast will video record fun clips to share with campers at the end of the week.
Camp Instagram MPH summer camp is joining Instagram. Camp Instagram will share the fun that happens at camp!
Comic Studio Campers will come up with an idea to create a comic book working together or individually.
Convection Treats Using a convection oven, we will bake and decorate some tasty treats.
Daily Paper: Summer Place Times Campers create the Daily Paper with basic journalism skills including interviewing, editing and layout. The paper is distributed daily during lunch time.
DIY Room Design Using simple materials, you will crate cool items for your room.
Exploring Engineering Campers will work in groups and use their creativity to accomplish daily challenges.
Flag Football Are you ready to rumble??? Let's play some Flag Football! (Don Ridall Bowl takes place on Week 6 only.)
Game Show Design Design the game show that other campers will compete in for Game Show Mania week.
Game Shows Play some of your favorite games shows like Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, and more.
Gratitude Workshop You'll decide as a group what local charity to benefit and work on a fundraising goal.
Gym Games Campers will play a variety of fun games in the gym.
Jewelry for PEACE Create cool jewelry to raise money for P.E.A.C.E. and its local community centers. You'll display and sell your pieces to other campers and staff as a fundraiser.
Lego® Building Campers will have a daily building challenge with Legos.
Lights, Camera, Action! Campers will create a theme-week script, rehearse, and shoot the short film to be shared with the camp at the end of the week.
Outdoor Games Play a variety of fun outdoor games including croquet, lawn darts, paddle and pickle ball, bocce ball, Can Jam, horseshoes and more!
Ping-Pong Enjoy this highly popular recreational and competitive sport as you learn how to play table tennis correctly.
Sports Combination Play basketball, soccer, team handball, and more.
STOMP at Summer Place Use everyday items to create different beats and put on a show at the end of the week. Shows are amazing!
Storytelling Create fun stories to share with the younger campers.
