Beginning Cake Decorating
Description
Have you ever wanted to create cakes and cupcakes like professional bakers? This fun and creative class is the first step to creating those edible works of art. Learn the basics of using buttercream icing to decorate cakes for all occasions from former professional cake artist Suzy Brooks. Students will use professional decorator tools to create a variety of textured frosting techniques. Due to the hand strength required and level of piping skill, this camp is designed with the slightly older camper in mind. Students will begin by practicing piping techniques with a variety of tips and disposable piping bags on decorator practice sheets, graham crackers, and/or flat cookies or cupcakes. By the end of the week, campers will have learned to crumb coat a cake, ice smoothly with an offset cake spatula and how to prepare iced surface for decorating. At the end of the week, students will take home a boxed 6" round cake designed and decorated with the techniques they have learned!
