The Shape of Horror
Description
The Shape of Horror is an exploration of horror as a genre. We will use film, literature and other media to critically think about horror and its effect on our culture, especially through the lens of social justice. CAMPER BEWARE: we will be watching a few rated-R movies that will often contain images and ideas of a graphic nature, as it acceptably pertains to the horror genre. There will also be a creative writing element during our time together as we begin to craft our own tales of horror. This camp is recommended for high school-aged individuals. Though the list is tentative, here are a few films we will be viewing:
• "Nightmare" (1964)
• "The Crucible" (1996)
• "Cat People" (1982)
• Various short horror films
