Bushcraft
Description
Nestled in the forests of Mt. Christopher sits one of many remote campsites, where Bushcraft campers live and learn away from the bustle of everyday life. Wake to the sounds of nature and begin a journey learning the skills of the traditional Maine Guide as well as wilderness survival skills and craft making.

We will spend the first week at camp learning about basic wilderness survival skills and preparing for a backcountry trip. Learn wilderness cooking over an open fire as you help cook your own meals. Master fire building without matches and shelter construction using natural materials. In our second week, as we depart on our trip, we’ll focus on learning the ways of the Registered Maine Guide with trip planning, navigation, and canoeing skills. You’ll explore the wilderness and immerse yourself in your natural surroundings throughout this program, where squirrels, deer, owls, and foxes will be your neighbors as you learn advanced animal tracking skills, foraging, and tool craft. You’ll gain self-confidence and a wide array of survival skills along this journey.

Bushcraft is the pinnacle of our Wilderness Survival Path and the gateway to becoming a Junior Maine Guide.

(Note: Due to COVID and transportation limitations, this program may not include traveling, and will remain on site.)
