Ceramics: Wheel-Throwing Basics
Description
Time to start or advance your ceramics skills in our open-space Creekside Studio! In this 4-day camp, young artists will advance their basic practices of pottery making, including wheel-throwing and hand building techniques. We recommend taking the basics camp first or have had a basics class in the last year. Taught by the Montalvo’s 2025 Resident Ceramicist, Ashley Magaña, campers will create their own masterpieces such as bowls, cups, and more, with the goal of creating a fabulous, handcrafted dinner party set to bring home and use! Friends and family are invited to an informal camp showcase of the students' works on Thursday, July 17. All materials and supplies included with camp fee. As a part of their Montalvo Arts Center experience, all summer campers will have the opportunity to explore and learn about the native plants and animals around the property and its Santa Clara County Park trails.
Campers are encouraged to sign up for this camp and previous week’s Ceramics: Pots + Plants Basics for ongoing project and skill development.
